About

Fran Moore is the owner, chief executive officer, emperor, king, President-for-Life, and custodial engineer of Fran Moore Woodcarving and Stained and Fused Glass. He resides in the mountains outside of Asheville, N.C., with his first wife, their three dogs, and a ridiculous number of cats, of which Fran is not President-for-Life (but definitely custodial engineer).

For 16 wonderful years, Fran was friend and student to the Bavarian certified master woodcarver, Ludwig Kieninger, in Dallas, Texas. Fran was able to garner many laughs by mimicking Ludwig’s thick Bavarian accent and insane world views. Upon Ludwig’s retirement Fran was instructed by the very capable Hans Schwalm, who unfortunately has no discernible accent.

In 2009, at the urging of his wife, Fran entered a clock he had made in the largest clock contest in North America. The clock’s first place finish was the final push to seriously pursue his artwork.

Fran is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, a Vietnam veteran, holds a law degree from Mercer University and a masters in accounting from Georgia State University.
